Benefit Watt's Up

 photo 041.jpg
Goodmess, Benefit has been BLOWING me away lately with their cheek products. I love this company for so many reasons, one being the adorably cute names all their products have but the biggest reason I love them is because so many of their products are simply amazing! I tried High Beam a few years ago and did not care for it. Now I realize it was because I simply did not know how to use it. I have been hardcore into makeup for 3 years now and I am still discovering new products and ways of applying them that suit my face. FUN!!! I ended up trying High Beam again and it became my most favorite highlighter ever. However a sad day occurred. My little sample size bottle ran out. I stored it upside down, stuck q-tips in it and really scraped out every single last bit of it. I am on a no buy so I was feeling quite panicked about not having a highlighter. I ended up trading a friend from a makeup group, I got her new Watt's Up and she got my new Sleek palette that I have had for MONTHS and never touched!   Read about my experience below!

What is it? A cream to powder highlighter
 How much is it? $30.00
Where to buy it? Benefit website, Sephora and Ulta

What is it supposed to do? Text taken from the product listing on the Benefit Website. "Our soft focus highlighter turns on “watt” ya got with a delicate champagne glow that’s gorgeous. With a cream-to-powder finish...it’s a switch on “wow” for all complexions. You’ll adore the smooth applicator & luminous sheen."
What does it ACTUALLY do? This product lives up to it's claim and then some. This color highlighter is new to me and  I really like it. Benefit calls it "champagne" in color and I would have to agree. I swiped the stick across my cheeks which applied a GENEROUS amount of highlighter. I tried using the sponge thing that is on the bottom of the tube but personally I did not like it. It is too small and just seems gross. I like to wash my sponges and applicators often and because this is attached it is not possible. I just blended it in with my fingers.

Overall thoughts? I freaking LOVE this highlighter. I swear Benefit just hits home runs with everything I try lately! I found that it gave me a subtle glow without being too shiny. It applied very smoothly and blended perfectly into my skin. It has replaced High Beam as my new favorite highlighter for sure. The two things I do not like are the price and the size. I find most things from Benefit that come in a tube/twist up form are pretty small in the amount of product you get and the pricing is quite high. Personally, most Benefit products are out of my budget but because of the sheer awesomeness of them I make exceptions. I most likely WILL buy this product once I run out, the only reason I would not is if I try and prefer another highlighter from Benefit or another company.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Hypercolor Lash and Brow Tint

Please note that these items were sent to me for promotional purposes.

 photo 064.jpg
Last month I was happily surprised to find a package in my mail box from Anastasia Beverly Hills. I have tried quite a few of their products and really like them. Especially the teal Hypercolor brow powder and the Noir Covet eyeliner. You can see my previous reviews of Anastasia Beverly Hills products by clicking the links below.
Covet Eyeliners
Bold and Beautiful Palette
Hypercolor Brow and Hair Powder

In the Pink
Electric Blue
Ultra Violet

 photo 063.jpg
What is it? Bright colored tint for your lashes and brows.
How much is it? $22
Where to buy it? http://www.anastasia.net/Hypercolor-Brow-and-Lash-Tint.html
 photo 039.jpg

I just lightly ran the mascara wand across my arm for the swatches below.
Because I am have a hair phobia I just have to point out that my arm is NOT
hairy, it is the way the mascara brushed on my skin.
 photo 065.jpg
What is it supposed to do? Text taken from the product listing at Anastasia.net  " Vivid tint adds a flash of intense color to your brows and even doubles as a curling mascara for ultra-bright lashes! NTENSE, ultra-bright brow and lash color without dyeing or bleaching. Flake-Proof. Fast-Drying. Film-Forming polymer helps define and hold the brow and curls the lashes."
What does it ACTUALLY do? The colors are very vivid with the exception of Ultra Violet which is a bit dark. I personally did not find the formula to be curling but it the formula gave great coverage over my lashes which are a dark brown with just a couple coats.

Ultra Violet, In The Pink and Electric Blue Lash Tint on the lashes.
Electric Blue Hypercolor Brow Powder mixed to make a liner
Ultra Violet, Teal Tornado and Electric Blue Brow Powder on my brows
 photo Ana1.jpg
Overall thoughts? My overall thoughts are I like this product as a mascara. I personally had a hard time using it on my brows. The mascara spoolie is standard size and quite hard to apply to brows with any precision. I think they should have made the spoolie smaller. I found In The Pink to be more clumpier than the other two colors but easy enough to work with. I personally would have liked to see Ultra Violet be a brighter purple. My favorite is Electric Blue by a landslide. The formula is great and the coverage is superb. I think $22 is a fair price as this is a high end brand but I am sure people on a budget or who are not used to spending a lot on makeup would find this price a bit high. I will purchase Electric Blue when my tube runs out.

The Body Needs - Take Two

I have debated on doing this review for the past couple of months. These are the type of reviews I HATE to do. But I figured it is only right to share this. Before I go on, let me say that this is MY experience with The Body Needs. You may have had great experiences with them and I am very glad about that. However my experience was not all that.

I will start at the beginning. On Feb 15th I placed a large order. Last time I ordered the shipping was expensive so this time I planned to spend over $50 to get free shipping. After using the 30% discount code that was emailed in their newsletter my total was $51.55. One thing that I noticed while shopping was that you could get "RUSH PROCESSING" for an extra $4.95. That annoyed me. For a variety of reasons. Basically that is saying, if you give us more money we will value you, over our other customers, whose orders are in front of yours. I knew from my previous order that shipping takes awhile and their website clearly states shipping time

"Orders typically ship within 3-7 business days after payment is received.
The USPS quotes 2-9 business days for domestic parcels"

On March 7th I contacted The Body Needs via the contact submission form on their website asking for the status of my order. 13 business days had passed since I placed my order and I had no tracking information. No response. I contacted them again the next day via the same form and got a response saying,

"I am sorry – AOL has been blocking our emails. Our IT team says the problem is fixed so I hope this goes through.

The USPS seems to have lost your package and we reshipped it on Thursday, after your original email.
We did respond, but the emails were just bouncing back as SPAM.

Again, I do apologize!"

At this point I am a bit annoyed but still fine. I got the package Saturday which means it took only two days to ship the package which is really fast but it was still 17 business days after placing my order which is only one day past their maximum shipping time. I personally believe that my order was never shipped and lost. I think that my order surpassed the shipping and handling time so when I brought it up they just said it got lost and were sending a new one to appease me. I believe that once I brought it up they made sure my order went right out. I could be wrong. Once again, this is my opinion. I was happy and excited to get my order, however the first thing I noticed inside one of the baggies was a black hair. GAG.

 photo IMAG0342.jpg

I contacted The Body Needs via the contact submission form on the website once again and got an email back right away from their packaging guy. He apologized and said the baggies are very static and must have attracted a hair. He also offered a discount for the next time I ordered. At this point I am just aggravated and sort of grossed out. I tossed the hair and sprayed all the outside of the lipsticks with alcohol. Another thing I noticed and did not like were that only some of the lipsticks had shrink wrap bands.

 photo 394.jpg

I was pretty excited to swatch everything and try on the different shades. However as I was swatching I found a piece of hairy fuzz in two of the lipsticks and the texture of a couple to be completely unusable.
 photo 395.jpg

This was how the lipstick looked after I tried to lightly apply it to my lips. Out of the bunch three were like this.
 photo 399.jpg

I did not even bother contacting them again about this. I was so over the whole situation at this point. A majority of the lipsticks are fine. I sanitized everything with alcohol and threw out the ones with fuzz in them. I am not going to be ordering from The Body Needs again which is sucky because I really liked the whole concept of MAC lipstick samples. I posted on Facebook about the long shipping time and got a few responses from people singing the praises of  The Body Needs. Like I said before, I know a lot of people have had great experienced with them, however mine was not all that.
